February 29th
The date is March 1 today. It is not February 29. Which means yet another year that I don't get an actual Birthday. I used to really dislike being a Leap Year Baby. Kids in Elementary school would pick on me calling me a baby. But as I grew up, I realized how special it is. Imagine the reaction when you tell someone you're Birthday is February 29th. Some say nothing. Some look at you in silence then say, "Huh?" The ever so famous question of asking, "When do you celebrate it then?
The motivation behind this post isn't just because it is (sort of) my Birthday. It is due to this:

When editing my profile on Blogger, this error message popped up. I suppose I never noticed it before. They won't let me put my real Birthday down. It's as if the date does not exist at all. Yes, I recognize that it only exists every 4 years but that doesn't mean I have to put a fake date down. My mom gave birth to me on February 29th, 1980. Not a day later, not a day sooner.
So, this year, I am 31 YEARS old and 7 3/4 BIRTHDAYS old. And I couldn't be more excited about it. It's gonna be an amazing year... even without the 29th!

Extraordinary
I'm a music freak. I'm always on the hunt for that new record that just changes me. I love going to see bands/musicians/amazingness perform.
The last concert I saw was last August. Passion Pit and Tokyo Police Club. St. Louis has been a bit dry in the concert world. That and I've been quite worried about being pregnant at a loud and crowded show.
Until last night. Jarrod Gorbel (of Honorary Title) rolled into town. I've seen him a few times and he just gets better and better.
Buttercup got to go to her first concert. And it was perfect.

Number 1
Today I had full intentions of doing something special for my Mister. Similar to what I did last year. But the morning started out chaotic and didn't really calm down until, well, just about now. I did, however, find time to bake his favorite red velvet cupcakes.
How are we going to celebrate the Hallmark holiday? Well, we start our birthing classes tonight. He's alllll excited. I, on the other hand, am a nervous wreck. I think because it is finally, truely setting in that I am going to deliver a baby. Our baby. This beautiful being growing inside me.
So, a song to honor my wonderful husband and beautiful baby that we will soon meet....

Sunday Brunch
Today we went to my parents for a last minute get together with 3 of my siblings. Mike and his girls, Tom, John and his girls. My other 2 siblings had prior engagements. It was a lovely day. First breath of fresh air in this yucky winter we've had. It was almost 60 degrees. The sun was shining, the snow was melting. I was a happy camper.

Oh No Let's Go!
I've been on a Prince-listening frenzy lately. Puts me in such a good mood. Drace and I were dancing to this one the other day. We couldn't help but imagine having little dance parties with our little one. She definitely takes place in the festivities where she is now. She moves around like crazy!

Hand-Me-Downs for Buttercup
My parents have been cleaning out their basement. Mom stumbled upon some of my clothes from when I was a baby. Needless to say, Buttercup will be frolicking around in her mommy's vintage clothes.

The Last Nanny Gig
I've been titled "nanny" for four different families. When I was 22, I fled to New York City to persue "Who knows what." How did I get there? I set up a little profile on a website www.greataupair.com. Within a week my email box was flooded with families all over the world wanting my services. So I narrowed my criteria to strictly New York City. Then just a few days after that, I was hired. Not knowing the family at all. Only seeing pictures and speaking to the mother on the phone a couple times. She booked me a one way flight to New York and only 2 weeks later, I was gone. That's where it all began.
I was with that family for 1 year. They lived in Westchester County, New York. About 45 minutes out of the city. But it wasn't enough for me. I wanted the city life. So, after a year with them, I picked up and moved to Manhattan. Subletted my friends appartment on the Upper West Side and found an amazing gig. A beautiful family in Park Slope, Brooklyn. I was to be caring for baby Elliott, 4 months. I was with him for one year. I was in love with my time spent with him. I did most of my New York siteseeing with him.
Elliott and Me
Then it was time for little Elliott to go to full time day care. My time was up with him and it broke my heart. I had a hard time finding another gig in New York so I decided to move to Florida with my dear friend, Lana. Job hunting in the dirty south was quite tricky. I finally found a job after 2 months caring for baby Sydney, 3 months. She was such a gem. My time was limited with her after her mother decided to stay at home with her. I was only with her for 3 months.
Baby Sydney
I took a break from nannying and went into retail. Mind you, all this time I was doing hair on the side. Sadly, my license expired because I didn't renew it. Dumb old me.
After moving back home to St. Louis and renewing my cosmetology license, I was asked to take care of my twin nieces two days a week. Of course I accepted.
I got to spend time with these little lovlies...
I got to see them develop and grow.
I always told myself after each nanny gig, "The next child I will care for will be my own." Well, that time has now come. My last day with Maggie and Cate was 2 weeks ago. It took some getting used to. I was so sad. I miss them. Luckily they are my nieces. I get to see them whenever I please. : )
